Test 1: Can I hear it? Reason for test: The DDR is claimed to be an ultrasonic device, silent to humans and audible to dogs. Procedure: I switched it on and cycled through all four of the "on" settings. The pushbutton switch made an audible click, but I was unable to hear any other sound associated with its operation. My hearing is pretty good; I can hear the hiss of a TV set which some people cannot. There was no hiss, and no hum of a cooling fan. Conclusion: the test supports the claim that the DDR is silent to humans, at least for the first few minutes of operation. It does not make use of a cooling fan, or else the fan does not work.
